I wonder if originally you would fight Grunty in Mad Monster Mansion. I don't see why else RareWare would make this.

Well, in Nuts and Bolts, when you're in Banjoland, they have information bears that tell you what items and such are for, and it mentions that The Mad Monster Mansion was one of Grunty's favorite places.
I believe though your theory might be a very good one though. I can see how that would be.
